Polyguard Cover installed on a corrugated metal window well

Each basement window well cover is custom made to fit the exact shape and size of each window well. Covers manufactured for corrugated metal window wells will overlap approximately 1-2 inches beyond the edge of the window well. The aluminum supporting braces provide extra support. Additionally, the aluminum braces raise the back of the cover approximately 1 ½ inches to create a slope from the back of the window well down towards the front. This slope allows rain and snow to drain off the cover and away from the foundation, as well as create a small gap between the cover and the top of the window well for air to circulate into the window well and basement area. Covers can be designed to sit flat (1/2” rise) upon customer request prior to manufacturing. Covers for corrugated metal window wells feature spring tension clips that are attached to the window well cover and easily snap onto the top of the window well holding the cover in place. The clips allow for easy removal and egress.
All covers attach directly to the window well and not to the foundation, brick, or siding, thus eliminating unnecessary holes in the side or foundation.
SECURITY KITS: Highly recommend for areas of high wind.
Are Covers Hinged?
NO! It is not necessary to hinge covers or connect them to the house. To hinge a cover to the house or foundation only results in permanent holes into the side of your siding or foundation. This also drives up the labor and cost of installation. A hinged cover will most likely get in the way of a quick exit or fall down as you climb out and hit you on the head or back causing injury.
Polyguard Cover with window height protection

What is a window height?
When a portion of the window is above the top of the window well, we define this as a window height. For this situation the polycarbonate material can be heated and formed to cover this portion of the exposed window. This is similar to a backsplash at the back of a counter top. The extra material provides added protection for this area of the window. The cover and widow height material are all one solid piece.
Customers can request the full rise or reduced rise in either situation prior to manufacturing.
All covers attach directly to the window well and not to the foundation, brick, or siding.
SECURITY KITS: Highly recommend for areas of high wind.
Polyguard Cover installed within a deck, patio, or other walkways

Many window wells are installed with the lip of the window well even with the surrounding surface or below the surrounding surface. In this situation, our covers are made to sit flat (.5” rise) for window wells within a deck, patio, or other walkway. The entire cover will overlap 1.5” to 2” onto the surrounding surface for proper support. Installing the cover with minimum rise reduces the possibility of the cover presenting a tripping hazard.
Sometimes window wells have the lip of the window well above the surrounding surface which presents a tripping hazard. Covers for this situation will be installed with the full 1.5” rise. Customers can request the full rise or reduced rise in either situation prior to manufacturing covers. All covers attach directly to the window well and not to the foundation, brick or siding.
SECURITY KITS are high recommended to hold the cover down if there is not a lip to attach the cover or in areas of high wind.
IMPORTANT: Window well covers are not intended to be a structural surface such as concrete, wood, or other walking surface material. If you have a need for a structural cover, please contact us to discuss other options.
Polyguard Cover installed on wood, concrete, fiberglass, brick, etc.

Covers manufactured for wood, plastic, brick, or concrete window wells will overlap approximately .5-2” beyond the edge of the window well depending on the situation.
For wood, plastic, brick, or concrete window wells, the aluminum braces are notched creating a stopping point to hold the cover in its proper position.
Polyguard Covers Inc. will manufacture each cover based on the size and situation. Any special requests should be discussed prior to the manufacturing of the covers.
SECURITY KITS are high recommended to hold the cover down if there is not a metal lip to attach the cover or in areas of high wind.
